China Electronics Fair (CEF)

The China Electronics Fair (CEF) is a components and manufacturing-services show rather than a finished-product fair. Run by China Electronic Appliance Corporation in Shenzhen each autumn and Shanghai each spring, it sits closer to the BOM than the Canton Fair does — connectors, passives, PCBs, modules, and the EMS firms that assemble them.

Why it matters for China-sourcing buyers

If your problem is a specific part — a connector family, a passive with a tight tolerance, or a module to design around — CEF is more useful than a general-trade fair. The exhibitors are the suppliers who feed a PCB assembly line, so it is the right place to second-source a component or qualify an EMS partner. The Shenzhen autumn edition in particular pairs well with the live component market a short ride away.

How we use it

We use CEF to solve component-level sourcing problems, not to browse finished goods. When a client’s BOM has a single-source part with a long lead time, this is where we find an alternate and confirm it is a real distributor or maker rather than a relabeler. Each booth gets the same three questions that separate makers from traders — plant location, line capacity, and a verifiable inspection record.

Practical notes

• CEF runs twice a year — Shanghai (SNIEC) in spring, Shenzhen in autumn. Confirm exact dates with the organizer before booking flights.
• Component- and EMS-heavy; if you want finished consumer products, the Canton Fair is the better fit.
• The Shenzhen edition combines well with a Huaqiangbei components tour for hands-on part verification.
