Energy density (Wh/kg or Wh/L) is the spec buyers fixate on when sourcing LiPo and Li-ion cells from China, because it sets how much runtime fits in a given size and weight. Typical Li-ion cylindrical cells land around 250-270 Wh/kg, while LiPo pouches trade some density for form-factor flexibility. The trap is a quoted capacity that only holds for Grade A cells — Grade B or recycled cells can claim the same mAh on paper but lose density and cycle life fast, and all of them still need UN 38.3 to ship by air.
