Most Chinese Bluetooth designs in IoT and wearables use BLE 5.x modules built on Nordic nRF52840/nRF52832 or Silicon Labs EFR32BG22, with PCB, ceramic, or U.FL antenna options. A BQB-certified module is the baseline — without a valid QDID you cannot legally list the finished product with the Bluetooth SIG. Module-level MOQs from a top Chinese manufacturer often start at 1,000–3,000 pieces, with the bare chip cost driving most of the BOM line.
When sourcing Bluetooth modules, separate two certifications: the BQB listing for the radio stack and the FCC/CE grant for emissions. A module can be BQB-listed but still need re-testing once placed in your enclosure. We confirm the FCC ID and BQB QDID match the part you actually receive.

For runs under 50,000 units, a pre-certified module (BQB + FCC/CE modular grant) almost always saves money and weeks of testing. Bare-chip designs only pay off at high volume.
What is the difference between nRF52840 and nRF52832 for sourcing?
The nRF52840 adds USB, more flash/RAM, and Bluetooth 5 long-range/coded PHY; the nRF52832 is cheaper for simpler peripherals. Pick based on whether you need USB or 1 Mbps-plus throughput.
Do I still need FCC/CE if the module is already certified?
The radio is covered by the modular grant, but the finished product still needs unintentional-radiator and full-product compliance. Antenna placement in your housing can change emissions, so a verification test is normal.
